To be honest, I didn't spend a whole lot of 2007 listening to albums that came out in 2007, but here are what I would call my 15 favorites....

1. Do Make Say Think – “You, You’re A History in Rust”
2. Neil Young – “Chrome Dreams II”
3. Everything, Now! – “Bible Universe”/”Ugly Magic”
4. Club 8 – “The Boy Who Couldn’t Stop Dreaming”
5. Chris Schlarb – “Twilight and Ghost Stories”
6. Dr. Dog – “We All Belong”
7. Panda Bear – “Person Pitch”
8. Jens Lekman – “Night Falls Over Kortedala”
9. Chad Serhal – “Carter Family Gospel Tribute”
10. Animal Collective – “Strawberry Jam”
11. Odawas – “The Raven and The White Night”
12. Iron and Wine – “The Shepherd’s Dog”
13. Bodies of Water – “Ears Will Pop and Eyes Will Blink”
14. Explosions In The Sky – “All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone (remixes)”
15. Andrew Bird – “Armchair Apocrypha”

These albums were good, but I probably spent the most time listening to Edd Kalehoff's tunes that he made for The Price Is Right. You can find dozens of these on the internet. Altough meant to serve as background accompaniments to descriptions of products or prizes, they totally stand on their own as feelgood anthems of carefree late morning relaxation. And their sophisticated kitsch is perfect for dancing or not dancing. Here is the man himself at his Moog doing quite possibly the greatest beer commercial of all time....

I just picked You, You're a History in Rust after a recommendation from a user comment on the Stereogum blog. I'm terribly excited by this record. For me, The Universe! is easily the most stand out track but that is pretty understandable with it being unlike most of the other songs on the album. I can appreciate them for their crisp ,clean beauty, but The Universe! straight up rocks my damn face off.
