DIY in Chicago

Many of you probably heard about the City Council proposed Event Promoter ordinance. If you didn't, you can read more about it here > http://savechicagoculture.org/

Basically, the ordinance would've severely discouraged the activities of Chicago's music and live performance destinations by implementing heavy fees and liability insurance requirements on all event promotion. Thankfully, due to a "nearly unprecedented outpouring of concern," according to Jim DeRogatis's Sun-Times blog, the committee has scrapped their plans and are taking it all back to the drawing board. So we're safe...for the time being at least. Thanks for listening, City Council. Thanks, Manny Flores, alderman of the first ward!

they sent it back to committee, right? that at least postpones any ill effects for a while, if it ever happens at all!
