The Walkmen (for shame!)

This song is an ominous winter morning.

Cloudy and just above freezing, the wind is whipping, with "branches bending low." You're out for a stroll, the frigid wisps across your face become more noticeable, more frequent. The grays above you are blending, "the skyline is swinging, rocking back and forth," with the darkest shades quickly approaching from the west.

You stroll on, pace neither quickening nor slowing. The fresh, icy air fills your nostrils, and it's a welcome scent. With that inhale the world is quiet and peaceful. You stop and revel. A few snowflakes descend, welcoming you to their season. It's merely the beginning, and there's no doubt it's going to be a good day.

Pretty damn descent little track here. I did kind of feel like it was building up to something that never really panned out, though. Audio blue balls perhaps? There is this bit near the end (rolling drums, whistling) that is trying real hard to achieve some wall of sound presence but just doesn't seem to overwhelm. Could be mp3 quality perhaps?

Will definitely give the album a listen to.
