Julian Fane - Darknet

I have to second Jared's praise of "The Crying Light". It's fantastic, as I expected it would be. But in spite of all the goodies that are loaded on Antony's newest record, I've decided to head out west and north of the border. It's in Vancouver that Julian Fane has found his creative inspiration. Both albums are incredible, probably somewhat inspired by his NASDAQ trading days in NYC.

What I've always loved about listening to Julian Fane's music is how involved I get in each song. I always want more… more guitar, more drumbeats, more vocals, more keyboard, more than either album can ever give, leaving me in the middle ground somewhere between satisfaction and disappointment.

For today's song of the day, I decided to pick one off his first LP, Special Forces. It's called Darknet and it reminds me of wintery nights, loaded on amphetamine cocktails, driving through desolate Indiana roads at increasingly fast speeds. The days of the wild stallion.

If you tee this one up, I think you'll hit a hole in one.
