A bit of a throwback here to our musical golden age. Of all the albums Pavement have put out, I've easily listened to Brighten the Corners the least. The Matador double disk re-release has provided me with the opportunity to correct that. Stereo and Shady Lane are without a doubt the big numbers on this album, but this little track here, Harness Your Hopes, is fast becoming one of my favorite Pavement songs of all time. A dreamy intro morphs into a straightforward, catchy, bouncy guitar riff with Malkmus's signature lyrical amblings all over it. This guy knows a thing or two about manipulation of the english language.
Enjoy

when i first saw there was a song called "harness your hopes" on that reissue i thought it was probably an early version of "carrot rope" (which also would have been cool to hear), but this song is pretty great on its own.
