Unfortunately, I am unable to post the song that I most wanted to share, India, recorded live at the 1961 Village Vangaurd in NYC (the 2nd version of the improvised song on the 4th disc, 15:14 in length if you want to download it and give it a listen). Box was limiting how large of a file I could upload so I wasn't able to get it onto their site. There is something about India that interacts with me on a highly personal level, it's intimate and soothing. Highly influenced by Coltrane's recent exposure to asian music, India reflects the finer aspects of the far east. It's very unique and terribly impossible to describe by writing about it.To me, Coltrane is the quintessential jazz artist. His life is completely intriguing. Just pick up any biography and you will know what I am talking about. Coltrane's music rivaled the experiences of his life. He would literally convey his lyrics through the notes he played... talking to the audience at all times, whether through poems, prayers or stories.
I was first exposed to his music in a high school jazz elective and have always found myself sifting to any one of his albums on my MP3 player. Due to the fact that I cannot post India, I settled to share another great song that is more of a ballad in nature. After the Rain. It reminds me of all things elegant. Short, sweet and immensely satisfying.
After the Rain - John Coltrane

Watson... you are so jazz. Coltrane is so great. Though I am not as much of a jazz-head as some may be, I am so glad someone has posted tribute to a style of music we have not touched on.
Hey man, hopefully you enjoyed it, listen to india if you get a chance, it really is pretty sweet.
