Michael Riley - Sweep Aside

I think one of my favorite smaller cities in the entire Midwest would have to be Grand Rapids (MI). There is much to enjoy in this small metropolis. They have good education, they have good culture, they have a sweet ole' river running through the downtown, they have the Dutch... lots of them, they have great beer (Founders Brewery...most excellent), and they also have an emerging little music scene.

One of the fine bands/artists that is coming about is a young chap by the name of: Michael Riley. Here is one of their tracks from their new Ep. I enjoy his edgy vocals, and I find their musicianship very pleasing. When I listen to their songs I feel like this is the sound that The Stills have been trying to accomplish since changing their style to more of an American-Folk-Rock. I must say that The Stills can't seem to find this sound... but Michael Riley has found it indeed.

And one more thing... they play well live. I saw them at Founders in Grand Rapids and their musicianship can be heard in their live shows, as well as on their recording (and their drummer produced the ep, which I find to be pretty fantastic).

I hope you enjoy .
